COLLEGE OF ONCOLOGICAL
SCIENCES
|
|
Comprising patient care, research and education, the Cancer Institute (WIA)
is a shining example of the comprehensive approach to cancer control.
The academic spectrum of the Dr.Muthulakshmi College of Oncological
Sciences, the first college of Oncological Sciences to be established in
the country, ranges from the continuing medical education for the
medical undergraduate and the practitioner to the sophisticated doctoral
and post-doctoral programmes of the scientists.
The Institute offered the superspeciality degrees of the M.Ch Surgical
and DM Medical Oncology for the first time in India. It also offers the
DMRT and MD courses in Radiation Oncology. The Institute is recognized by
Dr.MGR Medical University, Madras University and Anna University for
Doctoral studies in Oncology. The Institute is the only center in the
country for the M.Sc. Degree in Medical Physics of the Anna University.
Besides these degree courses, the Institute also trains Radiotherapy
Technicians and Cytotechnicians. Continuing medical education for the
family physicians, general surgeons and post graduate students of the
region is an integral part of the college activities.
